| Fixing procedure | ||||||||||||||||
| Tile fiximg should be carried out in accordance with BS 5385 and BS 8000 Codes of practice for the installation of wall and floor tiles. Movement joints should be inserted in internal corners, at floor perimeters and other locations as reccomended in BS 5385. In all cases refer to instruction leaflet prior to installing N&C Live Tile. | ||||||||||||||||
| Preparation | ||||||||||||||||
| Surface should be dimensionally stable, sound, clean, free from laitance, paint, salts, grease, dust and any contamination which may prevent adhesion. | ||||||||||||||||
| Substrates | ||||||||||||||||
| CementSand Renders should be left for 2 weeks before tiling. CementSand Screed should be cured for 3 weeks before tiling. New concrete, concrete blocks and bricks and calcium silicate bricks should cure for least 6 weeks before rendering or direct fixing. Chipboard Floors must be overlaid with a minimum of 15mm WBP plywood. The back and edges of the board should be sealed against ingress of moisture and screwed down securely to joists and existing boards at 300mm centres. In all cases ensure the timber floor is dimensonally stable and rigid. Existing floor tiles, hard vinyl tiles and flooring grade asphalt should all be thoroughly cleaned using Nicobond Super Cleaning Crystals. Slurry Primming is recommended using 1 part Nicobond Glass Tile Adhesive, 1 part Nicobond Primer and 1 part water. Allow to set before tiling. Gypsum Plaster/Plaster Board - Nicobond Waterproof Ready To Use Tile Cement is recommended for this application. | ||||||||||||||||
| Priming | ||||||||||||||||
| Porous cementitious surfaces must be primed to control suction. For simple priming use Nicobond Primer diluted with water in ratio of 1:4. For highly porous or difficult surfaces slurry prime as directed above. Timber substrates are best primed using Nicobond Universal Bonding Agent & Sealer diluted with water in ratio of 1:4. | ||||||||||||||||

| Wall Tilling Interior Dry Installation - Notched Trowel Method. Spread adhesive onto surface using straight edge of trowel to a depth of about 3mm. Comb adhesive with notched edge to give continuous horizontal robs, pressing trowel through full depth of adhesive. Exterior or wet area installation. Thin or thick bed fixing and floor tilling - Solid Bed Method. Spread adhesive onto surface using straight edge of trawel to a depth of about 3mm. Lightly comb top surface of adhesive with notched edge. Do not press trowel through full depth of adhesive. Buttering Method - Ensure solid bedding for these installation. Do not leave voids when floor tiling. Fix dry tiles immediatelly after combing adhesive by pressing them home with a slight sliding or twisting action. | ||||||||||||||||

| Mixing | For large quantities use a Nicobond whisk in a slow speed electric drill and mix to a smoth consisency. Use immediatelly. |

| Under normal conditions (20'C) grouting may be carried out approx 18 hours after tile fixing; an impervious substrate and low temperatures may extend the setting time and delay the grouting operation. Nicobond Flexible Grout is recommended. Store unopened in a cool, dry place, off the ground. Protect from excess draught. If the materials prove to be defective due to manufacturing and are not within the product specification as published then they will be replaced or money refunded.
